NOMOS Glashütte Metro Chronometer

A 38.5mm case with a thin 7.75mm profile, official certification as a chronometer from the Glashütte Observatory, no date, and double-radiused dial and crystal. This is the purest expression of the Metro yet, and we've made just 100 pieces.
Here at fashiontourbillon.com, we're big fans of NOMOS – on any given day you'll find various models from the manufacture on several wrists around our offices. When beginning to develop a limited edition with NOMOS, it became clear that a special Metro was the way to go. With this limited run of 100, we wanted to offer the purest expression of the Metro yet. The lack of date window and power reserve, coupled with the 38.5mm case size, really opens up the dial here for an incredibly clean look. The watch is powered by NOMOS's first in-house movement, the manually-wound Alpha caliber; taking things a step further, though, each of these timepieces has been officially certified as a chronometer at the Glashütte Observatory, under the guidance of Thüringen and the Saxon State Bureaus of Standards. Both the dial and the sapphire crystal are double-radiused, meaning that they curve from the center and then change angle, exhibiting a different degree of curvature at the outside edge. This adds another layer of depth to the watch, making it even easier to admire the things that make this watch special, like the light greyish-blue hour markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9, and the subtle light grey "Chronometer" stamped below 12 o'clock. Each watch is accompanied by a poplar wood box, two quick-release straps, a full two-year warranty, and an individual chronometer certificate.
This limited edition is all about understatement and purity of design. The thin profile of the case and the double-radiused caseback allow the watch to sit comfortably on the wrist and easily slide under a cuff, and the watch is still water resistant to three atmospheres with this construction. The dial is clean, allowing the subtle instances of color at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 hour dots and the red seconds hand to really pop. Likewise, the caseback features "Limited Edition For fashiontourbillon.com" and "Metro XX/100" engravings, offering a subtle reminder of just how special this watch is.
